Iran is one of the world richest countries in terms of natural resources (specially underground riches). You can find oil and plenty of coal, copper, iron, chromate, manganese, lead and zinc sources, to name only a few, scattered in all parts of the country.
The Iranians used to
export these resources and import manufactured products at a very high price.
Fortunately as of a few years ago, more industial complexes are built and attempts are being made to correct the old methods. Some of the old factories have upgraded their systems. Actually lots of European countries, based on their contract with the government or private companies, are involved in Iran to set up new factories and industries
Last year (1999), The Tehran International Exhibition, was one of the biggest and most important exhibitions in the world with more than 4000 foreign and domestic companies attending.
There are many European or Asian countries working, either directly or indirectly with different branches of industry. There are also some North American Companies, Canadian or American, present in Iran.
