Orfi Shirazi
Born in 1555 in the central city of Shiraz, Orfi migrated to India where he soon gained fame as an accomplished poet and joined the galaxy of artists that graced the court of Akbar Shah. He died in Lahor at the young age of 36, perhaps as a result of poisoning. Orfi's poetry is free of excessive word plays. Its prominent feature is grandeur of tone- something which at times inflated itself into the hyperbolic. His influence on poets of India and Turkey was considerable.
